Sorry for the long post, but if it matters: zoned mixed use/townhouse, when it was zoned sfr could get 60+ lots.

They have both offered their services and have asked me to consider them.My intuition says NOT to mix business with tenants.  

Find a smaller to midsize bank that has an appetite for investment properties in portfolio mix.

Just where does real estate fit in your priority mix?

In tech hotspots with a lot of well-off H1B workers who have caught on, there might be significant investment in RE.

Have looked at run down apt complexes in need of rehab, however by myself didnt have the funds/time to complete the project - will get there eventually.End game for me is to only have Class B+ to High class A residential rentals and a large percentage of commercial office, retail strip, shopping center and mixed use properties.  

This is often seen in more creative organizations, many tech organizations, etc.
