Hi @Linda D. yes, Matthew Desmond was interviewed on "Fresh Air" I think early last year.

I even change my picture every now and then to keep things fresh!

There are great wineries, fresh fruit is bountiful, and beautiful lakes.

@Jonathan HulenOne unit from what I can see in last years pictures just needs some fresh paint and maybe updated floors.

I think the wounds from 2008 are still fresh enough that it is all a lot of people remember.    

I am perfectly happy living in a paid-off $50K over-under duplex with a fresh 30-year roof and renting out the upstairs to fully cover my expenses.

I think we really put it in perspective when lake Baikal has something like 30 to 50% of all the fresh water on earth :)Ag takes the vast majority of the water. 

Every property taken down to the studs is like a fresh start! 

With that said, there are definitely people looking to rent or buy in FP that are moving from more affluent areas (Ventura/LA/Santa Clarita), and willing to commute so they can enjoy the benefits of the mountain (fresh air/natural surroundings/affordable housing).
