And like an earlier commenter said it all depends on the market, but if you know your area and consider any "resale" tips from a realtors perspective you are safe

Ideally I would like it to be in a good/safe area with access to transportation into the city.

I've heard a small percent get called due but there are a lot of rules to follow when selling ..all on the DOD frank act and the safe act.

I did all my training in the 70's to mid 80's  after that my skills were set.. all though you need to tune them up..And with the internet and smart phones and such I am sure there are many new techniques that we never were taught..

We brought the common wall with the adjoining unit (along the kitchen and bathroom) up to current fire code (on this side):Due to our proximity to the property line and the neighbouring building, we also covered the rear external wall with resilient channel and 5/8" fire rated drywall to allow us to use vinyl siding, versus more expensive non-combustable siding solutions, when we re-clad the building.In addition to using rock wool (Roxul Safe-n-Sound) insulation in our fire walls, we installed it in all bathroom walls, the bathroom ceiling and in the "TV wall" and walls and ceiling surrounding the laundry space to provide sound deadening. 

Now, I regularly volunteer as a high performance driving instructor, coaching new students on how to safely drive faster and smoother under controlled conditions.
