I just made my own assertions based on what I physically saw and the conversations that I had.  

Drive around and take down the addresses of properties you find that fit your criteria physically, then skip trace the owners and call them.

@Mia Duncan I unfortunately don't know these specific markets but there are SO many people investing in those areas that I'm sure can help you reach your goals :) And if you're physically moving to Columbus, OH, I'm sure you'll find good deals in your own backyard.

I believe that you could qualify buy working remotely for a US company as long as you are physically in the country when the work is performed (most of the time at least).

The risk to you is that they damage the property if they get physical or that they disturb the peace if they flight loudly.  

Although they are physically close and similar in size, they are not comparable.Property condition is another factor.
