They make a special primer that encapsulates the smoke.Make sure you are just dealing with smoke and not meth stains on the wall or other drugs.Having to remediate those things can make it a loser.You will need to have the ducts cleaned and service the mechanicals.

We have one in Georgia.If the buyers are secretive sometimes I can look at the recorded deed and it will be stamped with the transfer tax amount.In my state it's 1.00 per 1,000 in sales price.So if stamped 100 dollars was paid you know price was 100,000.That doesn't give me the mechanics of the deal but better than nothing.I think Texas doesn't have one because I didn't see it here:http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/B-0306.pdf
