If you want to appear 'official and professional' the the cost of attorney is the cost of doing business. 

Also, I'm trying to network as much as possible so if anybody has recommendations for different meetups to attend, or groups to look into, I'd be very grateful for any advice.

Sources to find the agents that can handle Apartments (ie have the markets and knnowlege) may be:  other owners, professional associations, their advertising.

Welcome to the game @Savannah Walbert, I would strongly advise you to start looking into what sort of real estate strategies are tax-efficient such as short term rentals with the "short term rental loophole" or multifamily / commercial with "real estate professional status".
