Try to get the owners contact info and start with a letter or a call.

Stay away from credit repair companies because they suck you dry and pretty much do nothing for 3-6 months until they send out the same letters you can send out to the creditors and bureaus. 

They then drafted a letter stating the properties needed to be paid off or take legal action, and four days later, I received a letter from the seller's lawyer stating the loan was paid off.

Has the building department sent you a correction letter stating that sprinklers are required? 

Not sure this is the correct category - but i received a letter from a “Consumer Law Attorney” letting me know that “according to court records a foreclosure had officially been filed against you (me)” and that they were sending me a letter to help me.However i’ve never received such letter from any court and never even been late on any payments.

If you get a W2 job now, you may be able to count W2 work from two years ago and combine that with a letter from a new employer certifying that you are hired for full time work.

We are in a college town and it's literally the few remaining older people who bought their homes in the 50's/60's mixed in with college rentals.
