Yes you can test for lead but the age makes me think you should just assume it is there unless you are prepared to do the a full remediation (taking it to the studs), because once you test you can't say lead is unknown.

@Garrett Wallis to address your first question, that depends on the location, the age of the home, and the demand in the market. 

Not to mention their systems are from the dark ages, even though it is almost 2020! 

While you're there i'd swing by the college and see if you can get any numbers from the admissions department (student population, those living on campus, growth, age, etc.).

A very close friend of mine is a builder and he is getting to the age where he is tired of building everyone else these lavish homes and needs to get his retirement going.

The unit is a GE and probably 10+ years old.

In Chicago buildings this age it's normal/expected to have some settling.
