Most timberland owners when they have mature timber have basically a next to nothing basis in the standing timber remember it was just little 20 foot trees when they bought it in the 40's or 50's...

If they haven't given you any trouble and they plan on staying longer I wouldn't shake the tree.  

Glad to see the responses 2 weeks ago storm dropped a tree on one of my rentals.

Think of the structure like a tree with your family holding company as the trunk owning LLC interest or shares of stock or a partnership interest in dozens or hundreds of SPEs. 

I want to maintain most trees and such. 

I currently have 1 STR near Joshua tree CA

I purchased land in TwentyNine Palms/Joshua Tree.

They built around the trees instead of chopping them all down as they have done in the Houston area.

Plus lots of windy hilly streets with mature trees you don't easily find anywhere else
