That said, I never really considered it a huge downside since doing dishes for one person doesn't take that much effort.If you were starting from scratch would you add a dishwasher to a rental unit or just skip it?

The down side is that it doesn't always attract better tenants.When I do have a vacant unit, I put a lock box on it and people show it to themselves whenever they want after they pass my phone screening.
