I dont completely know how to arrange this to happen on top of making him aware that this is common and not illegal.

Perhaps something can be arranged mid way.  

However now I'm contemplating making money off it.

You can set up your own retirement plan in your S-Corp, arrange for your own health benefits, ...The education I'm connected to has a two-day tax and legal class (2 days because it's so important and so detailed).

Now, I fully expect someone to reply to this post telling me how stupid that was, but it worked for me.And that's the point.You have to find an arrangement that works for you and your partner(s). 

After installing the granite, I am now contemplating staining or painting them a different color, perhaps a dark espresso stain OR paint them a beige cream either of which would match the granite.  

If those investors have deals, ask them their arrangement if you would find a buyer.
