So I would be prepared for them to say 'no' to any request for funds...that would defeat the cost saving nature of having the property owner maintain it instead of hiring a service.

I'd advise also having a conversation with good insurance brokers that specialize in multi-units...so you get the right liability coverage there and perhaps supplement with an umbrella policy.

I'm also very skeptical by nature...just curious if there is a way that you've used in the past or you recommend.

Does the house have a natural flow to it or is it a bit boxy to navigate?
