The Commission however only has power to discipline, fine, and recommend prosecutions against licensees, so they had no power to do anything against the unlicensed.

Is there power to the lot, is there public water or will you need to drill a well, if there is public water/sewer do you need to pay the tap fees, etc.

There are definitely some challenges and concerns, like the infrastructure, but I have another friend that relocated there full time post the most recent hurricane and has been rebuilding a lot of the power grid.

You'll either have to convert the house into a legal duplex by getting permits from the city or you install an electrical panel split so that you can track each units/bedrooms of their power usage.In terms of lending world and being to use the rental income, the property needs to be a legal duplex meaning title must be shown as a multifamily and not a single family in order to use the rental income separately.
