It was a cabin for history buffs who wanted to stay in a house like the old-timers did.

Offer to send your handman today to cut out the molding trim gently $50, remove bottom six inches of drywall $50, HomeDepot giant blue fan $35, $50 for extra utility and reinstall drywall and same molding repaint the wall $300.

If it were me and actually serious about doing this, I'd start by calling them up and *Gently* express what you're trying to do in 1-2 sentences.

Of course, do this as fairly and gently as possible especially if they have been renting there forever.
