I recommend starting with turnkey rentals as a great entry point.

However, if I lived in the units, the total rental income would equal $850 leaving me with a monthly payment of $350.

Looking to do mid term rental in the unit that is left furnished while they are not there and Section 8 in the other units ideally.Just trying to get my reps in with deal calculations.

My goal is to have at least 5 rentals in the next 5 years, with the first rental being a new build house hack in Florida so that I can escape the Michigan winters and the Florida summers.

You would be required to live in at least one unit.You can even use the rental income to help you qualify.Note, when you move a year or two later, you would need to move over 100 miles to be able to house hack again with FHA.
