Consider writing a letter to the homeowner, especially if the owner is a homeowner and not an investor, especially if it is a home owner that has owned for a very long time.

Usually you could not change the rent before the end of their current leases.My advice: promise nothing, give them new address or online tool for payments, official letter (paper) that you are a new landlord and collect their concerns, needs, maintenance request.

Our thoughts are to 1)call and ask the other tenants if they have noticed any odd smells 2)send written letter to each tenant suggesting they call us if they notice any odd smells.
