property management issue

Hi...

any thoughts on how to deal with this issue?

have tenant that seems to have a problem with something every other month.  While the complaints are based on something of merit, they are also a bit exaggerated.  The latest is a problem with a "smell of death" from another apartment.  No one is dead so i know it isn't death.  the tenant with the complaint also suggests it may be drug use. we have recently did a walk through on all the units and did not notice any strange smells.  I also know that these two apartments don't get along.

Our thoughts are to 1)call and ask the other tenants if they have noticed any odd smells 2)send written letter to each tenant suggesting they call us if they notice any odd smells.  the idea is that 1) a call will immediately confirm if anyone else noticed the same issue or if it is possible that complaint is an exaggeration and 2) sending a letter to each tenant will place any tenant doing drugs on notice that their behavior is known and therefore may get them to stop/change such that the complaints go away.

what do you think?  should we do something else?
