What one CAN do is purchase into different levels of their program and then frantically dial phone numbers or post signs along the road advertising real estate venture and refer desperate people to Saturday morning events in which they are hard sold to part with or engage in contractual monetary obligations to their "education" of which you receive an escalating percentage of depending on your level within the MLM program they offer.

@Alvaro Alvarado The three day seminar is about 10% useful content (maybe 20% if you know nothing) and 80% advertisement and hype for more expensive education.  

I mean, is it that hard to find deals that this guy is literally opening a business and advertising that he buys houses that way? 

You paid the advertising, he's representing the buyer here not you, and there is no other realtor involved to split with.

I'd call it advertising expense and it would be fully deductible.
