I think the best option (by a hair) would be candidate #2 but I go with the first qualified applicant that put in a complete application because once you have a reasonably qualified pool of applicants you are really just guessing so I figure that way I avoid some of the bias inherent in these decisions.

My wife wants to stop working in the next year or two and we have 1 baby and another on the way so my instincts tell me to just save and put some money into the house to try and fix the smell issue (don't know how, but want to look into it).
