It seems that most think that becoming a part-time real estate photographer would be a roundabout way of finding deals.I do appreciate @Ben Rhodin's take in particular though - photo/video services could help me network generally, instead of directly finding a deal.

But the briefcase full of Ben Franklins  would be cool , a couple of guys wearing Fedoras , smoking cigars , counting out  $ 400K in cash .

You need to remember that getting into any partnerships in business is very risky, usually more risky than the deals themselves.I'd have a few questions about this deal....If this contractor has no money to buy the property for a flip how can he underwrite his "quote"?
