When I test the GFCI the TV outlet goes off as it should.

Water supply can generally be tested with compressed air so that leaking water does  not cause any damage.

Once you think you've got it down, bounce your understanding of the topic off of someone as a sanity test. 

But once it passes that test, you need to investigate the actuals and see if you should purchase it.
