I simply cut out the old, installed the new and then added a decorative "wrap" around the bottom 3' to cover the seam I created between the old column and new.

Since the upper unit tenant has been using the previous owner's wifi and doesn't have internet, I was thinking of having internet installed for $40/m in the bottom unit.
