If I had no voice in the management or operation of the rental activity, then I would definitely view the rental activity as a passive activity.Personally, I will continue to treat the operating income or loss from my rental activity as passive income or loss, but, I can't quite get my head into declaring a loss on the sale of my rental property as an ordinary loss rather than a capital loss.

@Roy Whooten I looked into doing this myself and one of the things I found is the cost could be lower than wood framing assuming you are using a used container (which is also part of the appeal - the recycling aspect), but the thing that scared me off was unless you buy a container that was only used for one shipment, you had no idea what was shipped in there.
