If you run a hamburger stand like a five star restaurant it won't be profitable.

My husband and I are also quarter partners in a restaurant. 

Lots of Hipster types, and new cafes and restaurants.

Doing any of the things mentioned in these posts is better than giving your cash to Amazon, Target, automakers (best to not buy new), or every local restaurant/bar in your city.  

I would feel guilty talking anyone out of going to college, however, I see where you are coming from.I went overboard with 2 degrees (marketing and hotel/restaurant management) and an MBA. -- If I knew that I was going into real estate, I would have stopped with my marketing degree and dove into real estate (networking like crazy right after college).

It might not be a dream career but it could get you where you want to be if you're serious about investing.In the meantime consider getting a restaurant job.. and I don't mean at McDonald's, you live in CA so I'm willing to bet there are places nearby you could make really decent tips as a server.

There should be an avenue of enforcing things that are health / safety issues in a reasonable and fair manner.I don't want a city to decide what a restaurant will charge for service.  

There are soft drinks available at restaurants?

Now a days in my area, some don't really need a car with all the ubers and lyfts and if your either live / work is walkable , or in my case 60+ eateries, bars, restaurants within 1/2 mile, 100s of more shopping service stuff, movies, all the choices blah blah blah.

Great weather, booming economy, nice restaurant, diversity, great culture.
