(Each state has different rules) In Florida, if you are the lien holder and you go to foreclose, you don't get the property, the property is put up for auction and unless you bid, someone else gets the property - but their bid includes paying you off for the amount you invested in the lien and all your interest that accrued.That is one myth debunked about liens - there is NO "guaranteed" interest rate if no one pays off the lien.
