Now the most logical decision would be to move into Unit 2 once her lease is up in April, but she has been there for 9 years and doesnt want to leave and Unit 2 has stated they would move out sooner if possible to get a bigger apartment.

You can approach the negotiation from 2 logical ways-1. price per sq/ft - and reflect new sq ft to get to price2. look up recent comps for the square footage that houses sold (i.e. your appraisal will have this).

Their logic is that real estate investors buy up property and make it unaffordable for the average people who want to live in an area.Oddly enough I have seen this argument here in parts of Omaha, which seems laughable considering there is a huge supply of housing here priced under $100,000.
