We were supposed to move in on September 5th but I just got a call today from the agent (landlords representative) saying we might not be able to move in at all.The current tenants are in the process of closing on a house, but there is some possible title trouble and if the sale does not go through, I was informed the current tenants will be staying in the apartment. Is the landlord/homeowner required to rent to me?

you can sell it as a wholesale deal, where the buyer will pay all title and closing costs. this would have to be a good deal for the buyer equity wise.PM me your number if you would like to chat and i can call you later today.best of luck,Nick
