If I do get to the point where I have multi-family properties and a family home, it would make the most sense for me to sell this property so I can narrow my focus into strictly managing and acquiring bigger deals.   

I used to be into this and even went to a conference on it but then started investing in turnkey rentals and bigger stuff.

That is a very questionable decision.An alternative might be to look into building a SFH with a separately metered two bedroom in law suite over the garage.I was also thinking, what if I use a USDA loan to build a bigger "single family looking home", and then once the home is built, take out a HELOC and use that money to convert the home into a multi family... would this work?

I have a strong desire to start getting more into real estate, likely starting out small and slow, but would love to get into flipping and large multi-families someday if I could make this my full time career.Hoping to get more involved in the community and thankful to have found Bigger Pockets!
