New-ish investors from Mascoutah IL

Hello BP! My wife (Alicia) and I (James) are looking to get into rentals more. I have been absorbing as much information from the BP books, podcasts and the webinars to try and prepare for this adventure.

We currently rent out our home in Mascoutah, IL after I accepted a temporary position overseas, but didn't have the knowledge that I do now and it definitely doesn't cash-flow. My plan is to BRRR multi-family properties and maybe do some house-hacking once we return. However, I do not know where I am going to try to scoop up some deals, so suggestions are always welcome.

I'd like to end up at the ocean at some point, but don't feel my rentals need to be where I am. Thanks for reading my first post.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yes the property does get the mortgage and such paid (a slight loss each month, but just increased the rent so for the short term renter we have we are making a positive cash flow, but only for a few more months).

I will definitely be asking questions and trying to get our portfolio growing.

Good to hear Aaron. We are definitely looking to buy wherever it makes sense.
