That's plenty of room for the lender to cover their fees (easily $10-15K if you fight the foreclosure) even if they sell it at a significant discount at the auction (maybe $80K).

The government has wasted tax dollars on pet political projects or lawsuits fighting the federal govt rather than provided affordable housing, fixing roads, caring for the forests (to avoid all the fires), dealing with CA dams to avoid flooding, etc etc etc.

Checking your HOA docs and rules is a good idea too and maybe you do have a legal way out, but I would go with the apologetic approach first before fighting more aggressively.
