I've tried that before and it hasn't worked out.He's right, and I would have the same expectations, but it's obviously more combative than necessary.

They handle reservations/marketing and contract out the "boots on the ground" if you can't find your own handymen etc.

You are very unlikely to find it in Dallas unless you have "boots on the ground" and work hard. 

My goal was to spend 4 days in the area, drive the neighborhoods, meet with boots on the ground and soak up as much information as I could while in town.

I have done a fair amount of digging through data from various sources but it's always good to get a boots on the ground opinion.

I would network and find 2-3 regular people you can trust in Memphis who can give you boots on the ground opinion of the street.
