There are window inserts that don't require siding removal, but they may not be possible or as good from a water/air tight situation.Due to the age of the property, it is very possible that vinyl siding is installed over another siding.

I can see that but our mills out our way are very high tech and computerized etc etc plus they are kind of big open air type places and the log yards are just a bunch of equipment running around .

My advice to the buyers was to either require a clear title or walk away - unless they wanted to live with the fact that one of the inheritors could come back in the future and make a claim against their property - and as real estate values continue to climb, that scenario becomes more and more likely.All it takes is for one of the inheritors to get a sniff of money in the air and all hell's going to break loose.
