Thanks @Azeez, I would say the area is very much B and slightly rural however it is within a 5 minute drive to several major colleges, employers, and what would be considered an A market.

Mainly it's that some commission jobs are similar to self-employment in that the income varies (seasonally or annually) and it's reliant on the person's drive/skillset.

I am hoping to get landlords' perspective on this issue. my spouse has a felony where adjudication of guilt was withheld. theft in the workplace for a small amount but large enough to reach the felony threshold.

I currently am working a contract position that is not permanent and from asking around it seems like it is hard to get approved for a conventional mortgage when you do not have permanent employment.

I also get employers phone numbers, see how long they have been working there, it just shows stability.
