If you move forward with this project, and especially because it is on the 3rd. floor, and difficult to reach, I recommend spending a little bit more and getting a "steel" vent hood - opposed to either a vinyl, or aluminum one.

They wanted us to have a foundation company come in and waterproof the FINISHED basement, because there were signs of rust on one of the steel beam columns (the basement was flooded when we bought the house the power was off).
