Best advice - maintain your properties, have solid contracts that you actually understand (not something random from the internet) and a good insurance policy, practice clear communication with tenants and vendors, and have defined processes that set expectations.

Looking at this thread it is almost hilarious how most of the posters that have the most disparaging remarks to say about the Section 8 program also don't have the "cohones" to show their picture, full name and location in their profile :-)    It's almost like being on some random message board with folks hiding behind random screen names.Anyway,.....Section 8 and the tenants that come with it are far from perfect.

Blasting out thousands of letters to random lists of people could be a tremendous waste of money if you don't have a clear goal in mind.

I read about 12 books before I even found this site from just randomly surfing.

This is random and clicking the link a few minutes later often fixes the situation.  

Then the random idea of throwing this on meetup turned into something so big and great.It makes me so happy that things have continued and grew.

I suppose it could also just be some random disgruntled citizen that knows they're against city code and they don't like them cluttering up the side of the road.

I'd listen to the Tax Guy in your jurisdiction rather than random people on some website.

I'm not lending to random folks, but those in my local REIA only.I'm curious about the advice to "never pull money out of your personal residence."
