I've seen concrete floors stained and polished in commercial properties and heard of some people doing that to the slabs of their homes, but every example I have seen were dark and probably not attractive for every home, especially smaller ones without a lot of natural light.

The finish on the hardwood floors was eaten away in the kitchen area and black heel marks were left and polished over.

Good news for you cracks in granite can be fixed by filling with an acrylic but remember later you need to re-polish it otherwise the crack will remain easily visible.
