I’m new to real estate investing and am looking into the short term rental model in a few destination markets in the US.

I haven't done it specifically, but Elsinore isn't really a place where a lot of people visit, it certainly isn't a vacation spot and it is out of the way for most destinations, if it is like a house hack Airbnb for extra money maybe, but as a dedicated AirBnb you might have a tough time.

@Hjalmar De Boer We have a very strong long term rental market in the area are wanting a second home in the area for vacationing and retirement destinations, but they may not be completely ready to go forward with a purchase.

They were destined for failure from the beginning simply because they didn't plan to go at this for a while. 

Is it a vacation destination or something?

Denver just isn't a top tier or second tier destination for any non-outdoors industry. 

I've never lived in Pensacola, but I have spent plenty of time over by Destin during my career.

If I were you, I would sell the house and concentrate on moving to your new destination. 

Investing in tourist destinations is risky.

Phoenix has been a very popular destination for CA investors.
