It's close to Malden & Medford, even though there is no direct subway line or commuter rail to the city, I found a spot that has a bus line and it is only 20-25min drive to the city.

We painted the entire thing, tore out the carpet, refinished the beautiful pine/oak floors underneath (These floors turned out GREAT, they are by far my favorite floors I've ever redone), painting the cabinets, adding new flooring in bathroom and kitchen, subway tile surround, new lighting, new garage roof and staging.All in all I am happy with the way it turned out.

I've been looking nearly exclusively at places that touch the MBTA (the subway system), as the past 30 years has shown these towns/neighborhoods that might be cheap to buy at one point might be worth quadruple their prior value within 10 years.

Simple things can go along way including- Granite-Subway tile showers and backsplash-Fans in the bedroom-Hard flooring (no carpet or linoleum) -Exposed brick or other subtle things

I'll admit its a great place to be and live however if you consider living outside of it while having easy access to it via the subway or train there's a great chance you lower your cost of living by purchasing a small multi family and living in one of the units.
