If you are having to tap your retirement account to meet the absolute minimum down payment requirement, then you might be putting yourself at even more risk.With your 401k, you can roll it into an IRA but that comes with several conditions. 1) If your 401k is with your current employer, then your ability to roll it into an IRA is dependent on the administrator (probably your company's HR rep) to allow it.

I wish I could do the true nomad lifestyle, but at the moment my employer is geographically located in a specific location and I really like the job :) Mostly likely in the next coming years I'll just move throughout the town putting 5% as primary residences lol.

I personally track exactly where employers and private equity firms are investing in Dallas and I am purchasing as close to these areas that are still affordable now, but won’t be for too much longer.Hope this helps.

They will lower minimum payments based on income and stop payments based on loss of employment but they will always be there (now with accumulated interest) to prevent real recovery when someone is back on their feet.

For what it's worth, I don't even give out an application until I've done a pre-screening that involves some basic verification of the initial conversation with the applicant during which I took notes on a basic list of items (when are you moving, why are you moving, who will be residing in the property, income, employment, animals, evictions, etc).
