Just to provide some background information, I'm a medically retired Marine of 15 1/2 years. 

I'm a licensed landscape architect (PLA) and my wife is a medical professional.

My spouse got hurt while doing the repair job and has to go see a chiropractor--of course, it's our medical bills. :( I do appreciate the rent deductions but we feel like doing this is not worth it at all.
