One man also said that his family had lived there since the 1970's, and that since then the association has gotten rid of many things like a golf course, tennis court, restaurant, swimming pool, etc. and that the association isn't even taking care of the roads like they should.

I have only heard of that happening recently because the buyer bought a new car or was late on some credit card payments just prior to closing.I have had quite a few people come into my open houses hoping to qualify but they have car payments, credit card debit and they are self-employed so can't support the payments with their declared income.

They should go to the local housing court (if there is one if not then the local court house) and ask the clerk or see if there is a lawyer of the day or legal services they can contact.
