Seems to be a bad stigma on wholesalers in the Metro Detroit area and talking to experience investors with no deals and little knowledge seem like I would have just added to that stigma.

@David Krulac  crime and education were one driver of this.. not going to get those good marks in the big metro areas crime is too high...

We now manage our own so I don't contend with outside PMs much anymore.My home repair company is available for repairs in metro atlanta and we've been doing it for years......all the best!  

Dan, My results have been fairly good, but I got in at/near the bottom and bought a few good Detroit Metro properties for 10-20 cents on the dollar what they sold for 10yrs ago.

I discovered the BP podcast because my commute from the East metro to the North metro is terrible.  

My wife and i have been fans of HGTV for a long time, she has always wanted rental property in places like Brussels or Paris and i always wanted property local.

I'd love to hear some more opinions on these in the Portland metro area.My family thinks I'm nuts for wanting to be a landlord, and maybe I'll learn the hard way, but from what I'm learning you can take a lot of steps to mitigate the negative side to a degree.
