@Krystal Ahn, I think what you're probably referring to is placing the property into an entity like and LLC where you are the member of the LLC for liability protection.

So, I did the simple paperwork and started 5 LLC's for 5 different properties.I sent the LLC paperwork and he opened new tax ID numbers for each LLC.

If it's personal, usually you have to have your auto and often times your home policy with a carrier to be eligible for the umbrella (but not always)If it's commercial, it's much easier to only put your rental properties only under the umbrella policy.Finally, if you have any amount of entities (LLC, Trust, etc.) which own the properties, you would want to ensure the umbrella extends coverage over those entities.

Well my insurance does mention additional interest as LLC.
