Goal is a consistent income within 7 years, not maximum assets after 40 years.What I know best is the New York City rental market, so I was planning on getting started with single apartment units or single-family homes in the city and surrounding areas, including Connecticut which I also know well.

Anything additional that AirBNB brings in - consider it gravy, but do NOT rely on it as the default income source, particularly in your first year.Unless you have a track record of successfully hitting vacation rental projections over the fence consistently - I would not recommend running your numbers assuming that you'll book out every single day in a month with the exception of 7 days vacancy.
