I think this is smart to do, but you are making move for quality of life as well so make sure the town is a place you will enjoy (along with the new job) living.I've seen people use metrics to move out-of-state without really getting a feel for how much their lifestyle suits the new market.

Depending on how much of a discount you are buying the property at, it might make more sense to just wait the 90 days that most lenders want you to own it before refinancing it, in order to get your basis in the property as low as possible. 

People fall into the trap of spending without a purpose.

That is something that people might come across, sometimes elderly sellers just want the liquidity as soon as possible.  

It doesn't make great sense from a management point of view.Why did you buy the one in Arkansas?

I think maybe setting up an LLC to buy out my brother in law might make sense?
