Then construction started 8 years ago and in the last finishes. ( I took this long because husband decided to self build, self fund, and started adding too much detailed work that slowed down construction, he basically was building for himself, his forever home.)

Agree with @Eric M. the deals can LOOK like 20% COC but unless you are self managing and not properly accounting for all the cap/ex and tenant issues that do happen over time it's typically not real.

Flipping would increase your taxes because you have new self-employment taxes to pay, if you didn't use some tax mitigation strategy.Big picture observation: your taxes shouldn’t have increased just because you bought these rentals (unless these rentals gave you huge positive cash flow even after depreciation during the first year).
