My own background is in high-tech, and although I don't agree with a lot of the brainwashing they make you endure during 4 years of university (and afterwards in industry), I will have to say that becoming an engineer/software developer is one of the best majors you can graduate with because you get a lot of "bang for your buck".

With that being said I have submerged myself in everything real estate, in the process of getting a job in an entre-level position at KW to learn more about the industry, possible looking to obtain my RE license, and have a goal timeline with myself to own my first investment property in 2 years!

We all know in this industry it all comes down to who is in your network.

how to find cash buyers?

I got good solid info, once they stopped selling the next level of classes (we weren't sold anything last weekend), good connections to local people, and access to databases of info not easily available to those of us not already in the industry. 

New construction is always an option if the right deal comes along.I work full time in the Oil and Gas industry (Construction Management).

As the title says, I'm new to this whole industry.

Since you're getting serious about RE, I challenge you to become a professional in the industry, do the very best you can at all times.
