Do I have to complete the separation of units by January 1st to write off half of my closing costs/other expenses?

- Does the "final inspection within 1 day of closing" replace my initial inspection contingency?

I have multiple rental properties but am asking with this situation as it is my first time encountering this.The facts are: I have a management company who manages a single family home for me.

My confusion is, how far back does people who hold interest go?
