The good news for those who do survive the pain period is that the upside is technically uncapped but certainly never a guarantee.

My first thought was exactly what @Theresa Harris said. 

So if our old home gets trashed- Ill survive.

THe management company said he already secured a new place to rent- he's just hasn't gotten around to moving out.Adam Martin- I didn't know that they used the last month's rent in January- I found out after it happened- from the property management company.Drew Sygit- I can cancel the contract with the PM company without  fees with just giving 30 days notice.Theresa Harris-I spoke to them today and told them I wasn't happy with how things were handled.

You'll survive just fine like the rest of us in those other 33 states.
