I'm in DeForest but am a buy and hold apartment complex investor. 

I had all my money tied up for a while due to investing in the hight of the market and have now sold the place I was investing in with my partners and did a 1031 exchange into a small 15 unit apartment complex it is makes about 2k per month +/-.  

I inherited a 60 unit apartment complex..we had a bunch of problems that have since been fixed, I took over full management responsibilities, am loving my new role and moving forward. 

Whether that is the right step for you is a much more complex question.

The home is a basic single family one story, and I dont believe that the architectural structure/style would make it a complex venture for a roofer, but I am not a roofer so definitely not an expert there.

I have used 5 different companies to achieve the lowest premium.Also, most companies willing to insure sfr are not the same competitive markets for larger complexes.

I am new to multifamily I purchased a 5 unit apartment complex and among other things I am renovating the bathrooms.

Among experts that was the consensus unless you wanted to get really fancy with Trusts etc but those are complex to administer.  

Anyway, to answer you question - a number of the engineers you'd engage with the build of your complex will help you find your soils/geo-tech guy.  

The worst scenario you'd want to be in is having to pay out of pocket or take profit from another property to overcompensate for losses on a commercial complex.
